Treatment typically begins with weekly sessions and gradually tapers as you build confidence and independence.

Individual Therapy

Individuals struggling with food, weight, or body image concerns
Our team at everyBody Behavioral Health prides ourself with being genuine (we are real human beings and will be real with you), compassionate, empathetic (understanding of your feelings), and trusting. Research shows that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in healing.

Our approach to treatment is collaborative, meaning that we will work with you to identify goals and guide you towards reaching them. At the same time, we are focused eating disorder specialists and we provide evidence-based treatment to help you recover and improve your health. We will meet you where you are and guide you in the direction of what we know works.
Family therapy is often used in eating disorders treatment, particularly when the patient is an adolescent. Tweens and teens live at home and often need their family to support them through treatment.
Our professionals at everyBody Behavioral Health will work with the family to help them understand what may have initiated the eating disorder as well as what factors may be maintaining it.
We will also guide you in how to best support your child (or sibling or partner) through his or her treatment.

Family Therapy

Group Therapy

Group therapy can be very helpful as part of eating disorder treatment. Often, patients want support from people who “get it” and seek a safe place where they do not feel alone. We offer various groups which can be either a stand-alone treatment for those in recovery or for those who need minimal individualized support. Group therapy can also be a nice supplement to individual therapy. One of our providers will meet with you for a thorough evaluation to determine if and which group is most appropriate for you. If you already have an individual therapist, we are happy to collaborate with your therapist if you would like to participate in a group.

Our groups offer a combination of structure and skill building with open time to give and receive support from other patients.

Nutrition Counseling
For teens, adults, and families

What is nutrition counseling?
A Registered Dietitian (RD) who specializes in eating disorders is an essential part of the treatment team. An eating disorder–trained RD helps you rebuild a healthy relationship with food, meet your nutritional needs, restore weight when needed, expand food variety, regulate meals and snacks, challenge feared foods, and address body image concerns that can arise during recovery. Working with a Registered Dietitan specialized in Eating Disorders supports with both physical and mental health and ensures care that is compassionate, safe, and informed—something general nutrition providers may not be equipped to provide.

What our dietitian helps with:
While other professionals may be great general dietitians, if they do not thoroughly understand eating disorders, they may do more harm than good.

Nutrition Program

Our dietitian will perform a thorough nutritional assessment and take the time to get to know each patient as a unique individual, to best support them in their goals towards making peace with food and with their body.
Typically, our dietitians will initially meet with patients weekly to get to know them, set goals, and make some traction. Depending on the individual’s needs, the sessions can be decreased as the RD and patient both see fit. However, some patients require more or less frequent meetings.
Eating disorders carry the highest death risk of any psychiatric illness. Eating disorders carry the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric illness. In a culture dominated by fad diets, quick fixes, and weight-focused approaches, what is most essential—and often missing—is learning how to properly nourish our bodies with consistency, care, and competence. Our nutrition program isn’t about dieting or restriction; it’s about building a foundation of reliable nourishment that supports healing, medical stability, and long-term recovery across the full spectrum of eating disorders and for patients navigating bariatric surgery.

Bariatric Surgery Evaluations

What does a pre-bariatric surgery psychological evaluation entail?
While the evaluation can sound intimidating, we work hard to make it comfortable and supportive. You’ll begin by completing questionnaires about eating habits, weight, substance use, and emotional well-being. You will then meet with one of our team members for about a 45 minute consultation about your eating patterns, psychological history, home life, and understanding of the surgery and required lifestyle changes. This is not a pass-or-fail test—many common challenges like anxiety, depression, or unhealthy eating habits do not prevent people from having surgery. The goal is to identify and build on your current strengths, as well uncover any areas where you may need support so that you feel informed, prepared, and set up for long-term success.
-
Identify your unique eating triggers, habits, and potential barriers to success.
-
Understand the psychological, behavioral, and relationship impacts of surgery.
-
Consider areas where you may need support after surgery.
-
Gain a professional ally to better prepare you for success.
-
As required by your insurance company and/or surgeon.
Why have a pre-bariatric surgery psychological evaluation?
Before choosing weight loss surgery, many patients have already worked hard and tried multiple approaches to improving their health. Deciding to pursue surgery can be an exciting and hopeful step forward. Thoughtful preparation is an important part of this process, including support for the psychological and behavioral factors that influence eating. While surgery can reduce physical hunger, emotional and behavioral triggers may still arise, and having the right support in place helps promote long-term success and well-being.
Bariatric surgery is one tool that helps with hunger and fullness. Can you imagine if a hammer was the only tool in your toolbox? Sometimes, you need to use a different tool and that is when behavioral support is necessary.
